Not only does the lack of reading prohibit children from becoming productive members of society, many youth in underserved communities are susceptible to negative influences which causes educational backsliding.

Education Equity is a measure of achievement, fairness, and opportunity in education.  A lack of equity in education disproportionality affects children based on race and socioeconomic background.  Disparties in education.  According to OECD, The gap for emergent literacy, one of the best predictors of later educational attainment, is already evident at 12 months.  These disparties cause a domino-efect which hamrs the future ability of children in underserved communities to thrive

he Creative Destination seeks to partner with organizations outside of schools to encourage children to feel comfortable reading outside of the classroom.  Encouraging independent reading is congruent with stronger reading skills.  According to the K-12 Dive, independent child readers score better on achievement tests, grow in vocabulary, and grow in reading comprehension.
