Create Spaces
The Creative Destination partners with organizations, after-school programs, laundromats, and many more locations to create spaces that promote literacy in underserved communities. These spaces offer a safe and comfortable environment to children who need them.
Why This Matters
Kids in underserved communities have a desire to learn and yearn for the resources to do so. Without a learning space, children are susceptible to negative influences, causing educational backsliding. Our vision is to ensure children have a secure and educational environment to expand their literacy skills and empower our volunteers to create creative destinations for underserved communities around them.
A Digital literacy Technology lab in the Tenderloin SF
The Creative Destination has finished creating a Digital Literacy Technology Lab for Kindergarten-8th grade students in the Tenderloin district in San Franciso.

Our world is increasingly getting more and more digital. Technology has become an evermore present need in daily life. We recognize this need and have sought to address this by providing technology and digital resources to youth. However, at this time, the equipment is outdated and does not run modern applications at the speed needed for youth to perform at their best. This new Technolgoy Lab will connect students to digital opportunities and also allow 8th grade students to fill out online applications to high schools that will offer them Financial Aid.

First Project in the tenderloin district of san Francisco
There are approximately 2,500-3,000 children living in the Tenderloin district of San Francisco, California. Many of these children lack spaces that allow them to experience the joys of being a child. The Tenderloin has the highest crime rates out of all San Francisco districts. Without a creative outlet to explore their passions, children are susceptible to negative influences such as involvement with drugs and crime, causing educational backsliding.
Advocacy work to end the Fentanyl youth crisis
Testifying in support of 'Melanie's Law'
From working in the Tenderloin, the Fentanyl issue has penetrated this community. This is a danger to adults and especially to children. It was truly an honor to support ‘Melanie’s Law’ at the California State Capitol this past week. ‘Melanie’s Law’ is named in honor of Melanie Ramos, a 15-year-old girl, who passed away due to a Fentanyl overdose. This bill was introduced by Senator Cortese and I was grateful to speak next to Melanie’s beautiful family.
This law would require school officials to be trained in administering Naloxone Hydrochloride and provide education on the dangers of Fentanyl.

It was an honor for founder Ryland Adzich to meet with Supervisor Cindy Chavez to discuss efforts in promoting literacy and helping to end the Fentanyl Youth Epidemic. She is looking forward to the future and combining action with solutions.
Importance
Fentanyl continues to claim the lives of children, especially in California. Helping to encourage change in policy provides opportunities to save lives.
